Tesco Electrical – Tech Table H5C range change
To visit 219 Tesco stores in four days and update their Technology tables to the new design standard. We were not allowed to carry out the works during busy store periods; Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
All stores were contacted beforehand and the visit was agreed with the ‘Non-food’ manager. This was essential because the store were having the new products (laptops, tablets and sat navs) delivered to store and they would need to be made available for us to display.
On arrival the fitting teams signed in, explained the store works to the manager on duty and transmitted live photographs and information from site. Each team had three stores to visit per day so it was essential that the routing of all 219 stores was calculated in the most efficient manner possible. Working throughout the day meant that we had to be sensitive to customer and staff needs – in busy times we would have to stop working to allow the store to trade safely and efficiently.
Visiting three stores a day also meant the fitting teams needed to be briefed correctly and confident in the works so that installs could be correct and signed off by the client, live.
Each store had to be set up to a specific planogram to be set up too, tech tables could range from 3 mods right up to 9. All products were to be displayed on the correct shelves, alarmed to prevent theft and have the correct POS on show.
Once the stores were routed, the schedule was sent to the client and distributed to all stores. Pre calls were made to the store managers to agree our visit and run through the works.
All fitters were CSCS accredited along with production of RAMS to ensure we met all of our health and safety obligations.
All works were signed off by the on duty manager and the compulsory Tesco scorecard system is used and works graded using the RAG system – all stores were to be ‘Green’.
